The double-dip rule
A disposable goes into the product once and onto the client once. A second coat of mascara is a second wand. A gloss is a second wand or a decanted dot. A cream product is scooped with a spatula onto the palette and applied from there. The rule is what lets one tube of mascara serve a whole wedding party safely.
Cleaned between clients
Brushes: washed after the day, IPA-sprayed and dried between faces on a multi-face morning (a clean set per bride is better). Working tray, mixing palette, tweezers, scissors: IPA and a wipe. Pencils: sharpened. Lash curler: IPA on the pad; pads replaced regularly. Pan products: the surface misted with IPA and left to flash off. Liquids: decanted, never touched by an applicator that has touched a face.
Never shared
Mascara tubes used directly; gloss wands used directly; kajal in a waterline unless sharpened between clients; damp sponges; false lashes. A client with a visibly infected eye or a cold sore: a fully disposable eye and lip set, and the products that touched the area set aside — or the area left undone and the client advised.
Quantities
Per bride and party of five: a handful of mascara wands and lip wands each, a sponge wedge and a puff per face, cotton and tissues in quantity, spatulas, a glue card per face, and a bin bag. Restocked from the list in the kit after each cluster; the disposables are what run out first.
