Makeup for Round and Small Eyes: elongating the round eye, opening the small one, and why a full rim of liner does the opposite
A round eye is elongated by pulling definition outward — depth and a wing at the outer corner, the inner corner light, no full rim of liner — and a small eye is opened by keeping everything light and thin with depth only at the outer third. Round eyes
What the shape does
The eye is as tall as it is wide; the iris shows white above or below; a full ring of liner makes it rounder and reads startled.
Placement
- Prime; a light lid.
- Outer V: a deeper matte shade at the outer corner, blended out and slightly up toward the brow tail — the elongation.
- Crease: a mid-tone blended out along the same angle, not up in a dome.
- Liner: on the outer half to two-thirds of the upper lash line only, thickening toward the corner and ending in a wing that continues the lower lash line's angle; the inner third left clean or tightlined.
- Lower line: a soft shade on the outer third; nothing on the inner two-thirds; the waterline nude or a soft brown, never black all round.
