An airbrush highlight is a fine mist of a lighter or satin shade on the high points, sprayed further away than the base; shimmer through the gun is used sparingly and only on smooth skin; and the sprayed face is then set like any other — pressed powder on the zones, a film-forming spray — and checked with a phone flash before the client leaves the chair. The highlight
- Cup flushed; a lighter matte shade (a step or two lighter than the base) or a satin airbrush highlight, thinned.
- The gun further than for the base; a low flow; tested on the hand.
- One fine pass on the cheekbone top above the contour, the brow bone, a short line down the bridge, the cupid's bow; the centre of the forehead and chin lightly on a long face is skipped.
- Look in the function's light; a second pass only where the lift is not reading.
- Shimmer: only on smooth skin, only the cheekbone top, the finest satin grain; never over texture, never on the nose. A frosted shimmer through the gun is a hot spot under flash.
Finishing
- Powder: pressed, on the T-zone and any zone that shines; skipped on dry cheeks; tinted or banana on medium and deep skin.
- Spray: film-forming, arm's length, an X and a T, left to dry untouched.
- Eyes and lips: as usual — waterproof, layered.
- The neck and chest: a light pass of the base if the outfit shows them, so the face does not float.
The flash test
A phone photograph, flash on, arm's length, in the chair, in the function's light if possible. It shows:
